Artifical Grass types

When selecting artificial grass you will need to consider what type of artifical grass you are going to install, and the type will depend upon the purpose of the synthetic grass.

Ask yourself the following Questions

  • Do you want the grass to look natural (this will mean you will need to get artificial grass that has a number of shades of green and some brown, natural lawn is not perfectly green and has patches of yellow / brown)
  • Do you need good drainage, most lawns will drain but the rate of drainage is very important
  • Do you need the yarn to be soft on the skin (useful when you want children playing in the backyard)
  • Will the artificial turf have alot sporting activities look for a wear resistant type of grass
  • What is the lifetime of the synthetic grass, Sporting ovals need a artificial grass that has a long lifetime
  • Pile height : essentially how tall are the blades of grass, for sdporting areas you will ned a higher pile height
  • Is the Grass Flame retardant : At home this is vital, hqaving barbeques at home, you will want to ensure that if an ember gets onto the grass then it will not smoulder or burst into flames
  • Does the Color fade in sunlight: look for anti uv in the specifications and ask if the crass is suited to Australian conditions,
  • Does the grass freeze in winter, how does the grass cope in colder climates, is ti suited for climated where the ground freezes and what will happen should snow sit on the artificial grass over a winter
  • Weed Prevention – Does the artifical Grass prevent weeds from coming up through the the foundation/bedding, you may want to check if there is a similair cost effective solution to help out here

When you have the answers to all these questiosn, will you be able to make the right selection for your artifical grass that will suit your environment, and lifestyle poroviding a cost effective answer to natural grass
